Implementing POWERBIM for PRODES started from a list of requirements based on data to be extracted from BIM models, processed and analysed in business intelligence dashboards connected to related components. In the implementation we helped PRODES by creating the first data templates based in their needs, before this implementation the client will be able to use the templates in an automated way and to create and customize new ones. First step is easy, upload a model to POWERBIM, extract the databases and create the first automated report, from this report users will be able to download it and to create new automated report templates.
One of the more useful utilities in POWERBIM applied to BIM databases is to audit them against rules created based in exchange information requirements (EIR), or other rules like checking the percentage of specific required atributes that are fullfilled. In POWERBIM users will be able to create their audit templates based in their BEPs, EIRs, or data requirements and to perform automated reports regularly over the BIM models of one or multiple projects. The data quality check has never been as easy !
AUTOMATED QUANTITY TAKE OFFS AND BILL OF QUANTITIES FROM BIM
PRODES wanted to have automated quantity take offs and bill of quantities from BIM models automatically, without the need to depend on professional 5D software each time in a typical workflow. The POWERBIM goal was to use only BIM models and data to obtain quantities and prices of the project in just one click for each version, with all the power of interactive dashboards in where users, in a web browser can filter by multiple categories in the model (level, zone, disciplines…) to obtain the calculations in real time and the componentes selected in the model to create saved groups and other funcionalities for collaboration (like creating issues to share with other stakeholders) As PRODES technicians said, POWERBIM has been very useful to be more tidy in database structuration and standardization, so POWERBIM automates results from database values, visualizing data in such easy and interactive way, being a great data discovering tool to force professionals to place data at the center.
Other relevant implementation we have created in this challenging pilot project for PRODES, is to be able to integrate databases that are external from BIM models, from datadrops created in excel, and uploaded in Sharepoint. Sharepoint allows users to edit excel files in real time, multiple users at the same time, so if we integrate excel files to BIM databases using POWERBIM, we will be able to manage external information to BIM in real time, but integrated to BIM components at any moment.
